Understanding PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It involves persistent, distressing symptoms that can interfere with daily functioning and overall well-being.
Common Symptoms of PTSD:
- Intrusive memories or flashbacks of the traumatic event
- Nightmares or distressing dreams
- Avoidance of reminders or discussions about the trauma
- Hyperarousal, including increased alertness, irritability, or difficulty sleeping
- Difficulty concentrating
- Emotional numbness or detachment from others
- Heightened startle response
In our sessions, we utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tools, including:
- Trauma-Focused CBT: Techniques to process and reframe traumatic memories and reduce the emotional impact.
- Exposure Therapy: Gradual, controlled exposure to trauma reminders to reduce avoidance and build resilience.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): Identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts related to the trauma to improve coping and understanding.
We provide a safe and supportive environment to help you process your experiences, manage symptoms, and work towards healing and recovery.
